And here is Manny’s mom again, Julietta. She too has a look that says “disheveled yet trying my best to hold it together”. Both parents convey a lot with their attire here – like they are stressed and under pressure. Like they’ve placed their wants, needs, personalities, and self-expression to the side to work work work and do what they’re supposed to do, like earn money and raise a family. And deep down, though they’re surely worried for Manny’s safety, they’re probably also resentful that Manny is exploring life, experimenting with fashion, and trying out unconventional pursuits.
