Maya Goldberg Fashion 4.11: Maya Magic

Haha, all I can think about is Maya constantly getting on to Caitlin, and in this episode it’s because Caitlin is supposed to be focused on UNICEF but instead she’s focused on People for Peace. Anyway, Maya wears this amazing sweater with legit giant pom poms attached all over it. Then of course for that sexy sunshiney carwash hosted by DH, she dons a rain jacket. And we see one other outfit, some jeans and a Kraft Dinner-colored sweater, with one of those huge hairbows Maya sometimes wears which I LOVE.

It’s so sad that basically we never see Kathleen have fun. Well, I have loved seeing her stand up to Scott. She is amazingly strong. The first outfit is very reminiscent of jr. high Kathleen – a plaid blouse and a peasant skirt. Then, for that unglamorous Canadian winter carwash, she wears some giant overalls. She chases Scott away in a blue sweater, khaki slacks, black headband, and those signature Kathleen shoes. Unfortunately Scott can’t take no for an answer like a real man can, so the next time we see Kathleen she’s in a sling and we almost can’t even perform a fashion analysis.

High school is kinda driving me crazy because I’m seeing Jyoti, Vivian, and others in the background but it’s just harder and harder to capture them. I was lucky enough to get a little bit of Jyoti today, though. Her hair is looking gorgeous and she’s sporting a couple of big sweaters.

Aw, here’s Joanne dressed up a bit more colorfully than usual, in this teal and blue colorblock sweater. Also I bet Yick was pissed she took his loitering spot.

Dorothy Fashion 4.11: Dorothy Daze

Aaayyy, it’s Dorothy! These are my first Dorothy captures of high school. I’ll be honest, I have been seeing her, but just not enough to get any decent shots. Finally she floats to the front of the screen a few times this episode. First we see her dancing for UNICEF in this navy dress, white tights, and some sort of shiny silver vest. Then she wears a green sweater, plaid scarf, and long black skirt. Finally, here she is in a little patterned sweater. I think it is so cute how young Dorothy and her classmates look even in high school. I mean, THAT is reality. I started high school when I was THIRTEEN. Meanwhile high schoolers on other TV shows look 30 (well, because they are I guess).

I forgot who Diana is giving the stinkeye to here – it’s probably Scott. But she’s looking cute as heck in this black tee, slouchy pink sweater cardi, and a red ribbon around a side braid.

Claude Tanner Fashion 4.11: Claude Charm

Sorry Claude haters, it’s Claude time. In one of his worst shining moments. He’s sporting the half-shaved ponytail, a dangly earring, and a leather jacket decorated in buttons and painted with Bauhaus. I also got a little shot of the Chucks he wore on the vandalism night, good shoes for sneaking. And then, the aftermath day at school, his look is less bossy, and a little more apologetic, in a simpler button down. Instead of getting angry at all these social problems constantly, Claude could have taken some breaks to dance off his frustration at a goth club.

Hey, Caitlin’s mom! It’s been a while! She’s over here bragging about how she got arrested once, but now she’s tenderizing meat in a broken household wearing a yellow button down and black skirt.

So you may have noticed that Caitlin appears to be rather impressionable. Claude is a bit forceful too, you know? He’s all like “you should watch this, you should read this, you should listen to this,” and Caitlin just starts to soak up Claude’s flavor like a mushroom. It turns into this weird mentorship dynamic and Caitlin must be having a bit of an identity crisis. I probably would too if I had just been dating Joey Jeremiah, who has a knack for making people feel unimportant. For an episode or two she really dresses like a different person, ditching the floral skirts and blazers for a high pony and leather jacket. And as you also may remember, this episode is the turning point in which Claude screws over Caitlin during their vandalism attempt, and if anyone in the audience had liked Claude up to this point, they didn’t anymore. And the next school day, not only is Caitlin back to her old clothes, her hair has a bit of an angry curl to it.
