Dang, I’m sure by now that this lady’ character has to have a name. I’ve got to do some digging. This unsuspecting library lady enjoys Colby’s creepy company while wearing a crisp white sweater, a grey plaid skirt, and pearl accessories.

So if you don’t know by now, Episode 11 is the one where Joey takes Snake’s parents’ car joyriding. So this dude is the mechanic who fixes the broken taillight. I’m not sure much has changed in the past few decades in regards to mechanic coverall fashion. But I also really enjoyed this guy’s hair.

And this poor lady almost gets hit by Joey and has to scurry across the street. She’s pushing this old-school Rosemary’s Baby style carriage and sports a nice floral top with black trousers and white socks.

Time for the randos!

rando 2

This kid in the hall is wearing an orange patterned sweater with some blue pants that look a bit bluer than blue jeans.

rando 3

And although he doesn’t really qualify as a character, I had to include one of LD’s pinup guys, you know, to give you an impression of the ideal man of the 80s. And what do you call that thing he’s wearing – a banana hammock?

rando 5

Pearls galore on the detention teacher lady. We’ve also seen her in the resource center. In real life, she was the cast’s on-set tutor. This was told to me by the lovely Colleen Lam, who portrayed Vivian Wong. I am lucky enough to have her attention on Instagram.

These. These two fools are the jerks who are trying to get Spike removed from school. Look at that lady’s mean and nasty face. She’s saying “That girl is NOT staying at Degrassi!” (Have I seen this too many times?) She’s wearing a brown trenchcoat thing to hide any clues that she may have a figure under there. For good measure, a big old skirt, and a buttoned blouse closed up tight to the neck with a big bow so everyone knows she’s super straight-laced.

New episode, new face!

This is “Aaron, that guy from Saint Mary’s.” Not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he’s got this rad greaser style that must attract all the ladies. The formula is simple: white tee, leather jacket, and neutral pants. Okay, Aaron’s really not that cool, but you gotta admit his style exceeds almost all of the Jr. High guys’ ensembles we have examined thus far.

Our random character styles are brought to you by the QFTB TV taping.

rando 1

First off we have a member of the film crew, wearing a very interesting polo with monochromatic brush strokes all over it.

rando 2

In the audience is everyone’s parents. The only one I recognize in this shot is Caitlin’s mom. And surprisingly, she’s not wearing a neck scarf. She’s wearing long cotton dress with what seems to be a little floral pattern. And, hmm….. I don’t see Caitlin’s dad. Maybe his affair was going on for years! Enjoy the ensembles of the rest of the audience.

And here’s our charming host, all suited up.

Time for the randos! I’m pretty sure this guy to the right MUST have a name, because he is on the show a lot. Maybe time will tell. So yeah, we will go backwards, from right to left. The guy is that dude who always wears tiny little shorts – maybe he was inspired by Stephanie Kaye. So here he is in tiny little shorts on a bicycle, with a boring old polo. As for the girl, I don’t recognize her, but we are inside the DJH building, where we all know there is very little lighting because apparently building codes in Canada in the 80s didn’t require hallways and classrooms to be well-lit, probably for the purpose of making my blog 30 years later a challenge, so maybe I just can’t make her out. So this chick wears a big – and I mean big – striped polo shirt that looks like it’s a boy’s. It drapes down over a big old white peasant skirt. I must say, this getup looks comfortable.

The unidentified guy who is always wearing short shorts is actually not sporting shorts today! To make up for his lack of usual sexiness, he rolls up his sleeves and unbuttons his shirt halfway.

Time for the nameless characters I couldn’t ignore.

rando 1

Very teachery. Love this grey flowy dress paired with pearls and a belt.

Rando 2

I am not sure what this woman does, but I think she’s involved with production of the show. I had to share her quintessential 80s hair and glasses. I still can’t fathom how these glasses were cool in any other way than ironically.

Rando 3

This mustached dude is always in the background and he’s always wearing short shorts. Who is he, I wonder! I kind of feel like I shouldn’t see him in this. Nothing but a flimsy little undershirt and some shorts that look like boxers.

Here, have a random character. Her face looks disgusted as she talks about her baby daddy’s parents. This pregnant girl from Spike’s counseling group wears a very oversized pink t-shirt, and awesome tapered jeans. And… I wonder if that Joey-hat is hers?

Do you ever stop and wonder… where is that actress now? Does she ever think about how she had a line in Degrassi Junior High 30 years ago?

Random 2

I have another rando from my files: the pregnant teens counselor. I couldn’t pass this up. She’s got a short sleeve sweater over a long sleeved button down with a vigorously popped collar and a silver locket. I’d listen to what she says.

Hello, some random dude. Now I don’t cap every random person I see – I only do if their outfit is noteworthy. I think this horribly 80s sweater definitely fits my requirements. It looks like something an 80s psychiatrist would wear. I guess I’m getting that impression from Neil on The Santa Clause…. anyone?!
