Yay, it’s Dwayne’s first appearance too! He’s only a background character at this point. But he has a really awesome sense of style… 80s-bully-chic. We’ll get more later.

I can’t remember now what shirt Arthur was wearing here.. a Lakers shirt maybe? Anyway, I suppose that’s not what is important. What is important is that Arthur is now in Grade 8 and is still wearing his housekey necklace!
OMG I just realized that he’s even got the key on a string that matches his shirt….
Let’s just pretend this is a key to some really awesome secret… like his torture chamber or something.

HEY EVERYONE, WE COMPLETED SEASON 1!! Let Season 2 commence: Get ready for clearer pictures, better lighting, and better clothes!
And it’s Alexa time. Thankfully we get tons of Alexa this episode – and better yet, Alexa gets Steph’s whore clothes!
As she stumbles upon the Stephanie Kaye Second Hand Store, Alexa is wearing a navy sweater, with a blue paisley bandanna around her neck, and a white peasant skirt.. with POCKETS!
It’s her first day in her new clothes, and already Alexa is making waves. Stephanie is jealous, and Simon is interested. You know, I feel like Alexa didn’t hit a “10” on the Skank-O-Meter because she didn’t tease her hair really big.
For Lucy’s party, Alexa spices up her outfit by switching the mini skirt for the hot pink leggings, and as it’s so lovingly called by my friend, “the pink sparkly thing”. It appears she has experimented with teasing her hair tonight too! I know I screenshotted this a million times, but I really wanted to capture the essence of the ensemble as best I could.
From this night, and Alexa’s tactics, we can all learn a valuable lesson: Dressing like a skank will attract a good, solid, loyal boyfriend who will later become your husband and result in happily ever after. And from Stephanie, we can learn that deciding to dress modestly will result in dissatisfaction with life, and suicidal thoughts. But more on that later.

What would a Yick post be without the orange shirt?
The school definitely had some cool merch. And I like that Yick wears it so much because it supports the assertion that he is athletic. Yay consistency!
Uh-oh, looks like Yick got another one of his orange shirt but in blue!
Time for another discussion. This time it’s about connections between old and new.
Watching the first 3 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation, there are many references to the good old original. Mr. Simpson talking about his band, the password “broomhead”, mentions of Tessa Campanelli, and so on.
However, after spending some time in the online Degrassi community, you will see many people asking – why didn’t the writers incorporate MORE, however subtle, references to the original? It wouldn’t have hurt anyone. It wouldn’t have messed up the story, or confused the young audience. Like, for example, somehow alluding to the fact that Mr. Perino was once Jeff on DJH!
And today, I thought of another. This morning, as I was watching TNG Season 2 episode “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, I realized something as Emma and Manny crashed the 80s dance.
WHY didn’t the DJ play one of the songs that DJH/DH used to have playing at all their dances?! Specifically Gowan! I mean come on! I became really angry. That would have been so simple! So here, have some Gowan.
