I know later on they start calling him Jason Mewes, but I prefer Jay. Jay’s here with KEvin to be in the movie, dressing like some sort of 90s juvenile delinquent, layering it up colorfully while maintaining a baggy silhouette. Shoutout to those long blonde locks. Finally, he wears a beanie with a Canadian flag and the word “snoogans” which is apparently a word of his own creation, meaning “kidding”.

I love this little moment! Ellie is here in Kevin Smith’s movie dressed as a REAL goth girl (which she repeated saltily). She wears a black wig with blunt bangs and an outfit that is nice and elegant – a high neck, long sleeves, and a long skirt. Heavier makeup too. Honestly I think Degrassi was starved of real goths! At least none that were committed.

So even though Craig has been diagnosed Bipolar, he’s getting treatment and maintaining. But Ashley just can’t deal for some reason, so this is the episode where he gets left in the dust. She is literally so bothered by Craig’s illness that she would rather run away from that than be in a movie. lol ok. Craig wears an array of his typical attire – tees, jeans, jean jackets, and leather jackets.

Mein GOTT. Caitlin is full 70s here and I kind of hate it. That collar… it’s consuming her whole. I mean, this is basically leisure suit vibes here. Oh and to make matters worse, she’s falling in love with Kevin Smith. Openly and shamelessly. Next she’s seen at home growing bored with Joey’s depressing family, wearing a tight red v-neck and jeans. Next she’s back in the halls of Degrassi looking like she just came from a What Not to Wear makeover, wearing a denim moto jacket, a floral blouse, and flared jeans. The final ‘fit is sweatpants, a tee, and a jean jacket.

Her part here is playing the stereotypically Canadian school principal, wearing a Maple Leafs shirt, red plaid, and this fur hat.

We wrap up West End Girls with Toby, wearing a maroon tee and his usual glasses. But his hair is kinda spiky, and that’s cool. We briefly see him at the dance being kinda rapey… I don’t know why the writers did that. I mean, you gonna make Toby a creep or not? Pick one.

Here’s where I round up the random and group photos from the episode. First are a couple shots of Spirit Squad, in their white tennies and Degrassi attire. Next is a group shot in the hallway featuring many sets of belted, low-rise jeans. Then is Kevin Smith’s insufferable music guy acting coked out in a leather jacket. This next shot, just a random girl at the dance – tell me that’s not Rochelle. “Hey Rochelle, wanna have lunch?” Holly J asks this girl in the hallway much later on and she smiles all big. This girl looks like Rochelle. Maybe there’s too much time between this episode and that future one, but I’m going to try to keep an eye out. And finally is an overhead shot at the dance, of these little youngsters enjoying themselves.

West End Girls being the Manny vs. Paige episode means we get a good helping of Paige. And Paige in pink is just me favorite! First she’s seen at Spirit Squad, forgetting the dance routine. Notice her super grunge-looking eye makeup. I guess it’s better likened to raccoon eyes given the era though. Next she’s seen at the store Pretty Pretty Pretty or whatever, trying on that gorgeous dress with her big black bra straps hanging out. I’ll say it again, this cropped length is a really weird pairing with a dropped waist. Next we see her with Matt wearing a very Paige-y top, silver jewelry, and frosty makeup. And even with a broken leg, Paige won’t miss that dance. She clomps on in, corsage in her boot, raging on pain killers. She wears a cute pink furry bolero with the dress, and one strappy pink heel.
