Here we are, in Ellie’s suck era. Like, she sucks. And also, as Alex once called her, she’s “a suck”. She’s traded in her crimper for a waver, she’s simping over a f*ckboy, and she’s cringily playing the drums. First she’s shown in a long sleeve shirt under short sleeve shirt under long sleeve shirt (Family Guy reference anyone?) Then we see her in her O-ring choker. And now let’s talk about THE outfit. Even though Ellie is already being drained of her style and personality at this point, I do enjoy this outfit and the *jaw drop* reveal they do of it. However I just noticed the sleeves don’t look very conducive to drumming. So what they’ve done with Ellie’s style here, is she’s basically a normie, but in darker colors. Though subtle, this dress is very cool with the off-the-shoulder sleeves, corset buttons, and ruffly layered skirt. I actually feel a bit sorry for her right here. She was so hopeful.

Gawd. Ellie being a drummer is the most unconvincing thing I’ve ever seen. I’m squirming. I really don’t like Ellie much from this season forward, but her situation in this episode is kinda sad. She’s being shunned by Craig and desperately she hangs out with Paige and Hazel at lunch. She momentarily convinces them to revive Hell Hath No Fury, but then the next day they’re like “umm what are you even talking about?” El’s style these days is a little less mix-n-match-DIY-mall-goth and a little more… emo meets biker or something. She’s got normal girl hair and wears a series of arguably “classier” black outfits.

I have so may mixed feelings about Season 5 Ellie. This is a turning point for her. And we see it in more ways that one. Since this is a fashion blog, I do need to state the obvious: her style is toning down. Yeah, sure, her wardrobe is still “edgy” or whatever in that it’s black, but it’s becoming much less experimental and much less out-there. It’s pretty much subdued. I mean, check out her hair. Yes, it’s cute, but we’ve strayed very far from the extensions, crimper, multiple ponytails, and fake bangs. Her personality is also changing. First of all, she is simping for Craig hardcore. And while part of me HATES that, another part of me really hurts for her. I mean, look how cute and hopeful she is in this last photo. But it’s just never gonna happen, Ellie. I don’t know, maybe it should have. Maybe it would have been good for both of them. Anyway, her personality is also about to disintegrate terribly. She becomes Craig obsessed, and 100% boring from this point forward. I think perhaps the show struggles to write dynamic “alt” characters. They don’t know how to make these people “alt” besides how they dress.

But anyway, let’s break down the styles of today’s episodes. Ellie has discovered the wand curler, and has taken a liking to layering. Layering jackets, shirts, and even belt and skirts over jeans. It’s a lot. She also still wears her Emily the Strange bag, gotta love the continuity with the Degrassi girls and their bags. Her color palette is greys and blues mostly. Little details include hardware like the O-ring choker the studded belt, painted nails, and a Celtic knot ring.

Oh yay, we get to see Ellie as a REAL GOTH once more time! I love the dark wig with bangs, the heavier makeup, and the all black outfit. It’s a shame that after Ashley went normal, we didn’t have a pure goth around. It adds nice contrast to have one on the show, imo. lol.

I love this little moment! Ellie is here in Kevin Smith’s movie dressed as a REAL goth girl (which she repeated saltily). She wears a black wig with blunt bangs and an outfit that is nice and elegant – a high neck, long sleeves, and a long skirt. Heavier makeup too. Honestly I think Degrassi was starved of real goths! At least none that were committed.

“MONOGAMY, WOW, what a concept!” Haha, it would have been funny if Ellie ended up cheating on someone one day. Oh shoot, (hah) she’s wearing the basketball hoop today! Have we covered this thing yet? This is one of the most wretched and bizarre garments of Degrassi. What is happening, and WHY?! I don’t even need to describe this to you. It’s a BASKETBALL HOOP around her torso! Anyway, sometimes I’m really buying the “goth” look on her but today she’s not selling it. Her hair looks very basic as well as her makeup, nothing to support that strange outfit. However, this second look here is super cute. A black shirt with pink detail, a side part, and a flip phone.

An Ellie episode! She’s out here living on her own, in Sean’s old apartment. First she’s seen in a black tee with a skull graphic on it. Then we get to see her a full fit – those awesome black wedge boots, fishnet tights, a black skirt, a grey tee over a mesh long sleeve, and a chain necklace. Pretty simple but very cute. We also get to see her Emily the Strange bag up close! The next ensemble is a black zip up hoodie, skull arm bands, and a camo/cargo looking skirt. For the house party that night, she keeps the arm bands and adds clips to her hair. And for the final look, we can’t really see it well but it seems to just be a black long sleeve shirt. I cannot believe Ellie wants to move back in with her mom.

Ah yes. Ellie plays a role here in that she comes over to ask Craig to restring her guiTARR, bringing her poser status to 11/10. Haha just kidding, I hate the p-word. Ellie’s hair is down and parted down the middle and just looking really pretty. First she wears a very 2000s looking shirt with some sort of tribal butterfly graphic on the chest. She pairs it with mesh long sleeves and arm warmers and wears lots of chain necklaces. At Craig’s house you can’t really make out the individual garments since Joey can’t afford good lighting I guess. But she has a leather bomber jacket on over a turtleneck which is a cute look. And who knows where she got that guitar. Must he her dad’s because we know it ain’t Caroline’s.

Ellie is giving us some sage advice like, don’t ever trust a man or he’ll stomp on your heart and leave you with the rent. I mean, we don’t know the full details here but that WAS kinda shitty. I bet Sean asked if she wanted to take over the lease or if he should help pay and she was like “nah I got it.” Who knows though. Anyway, we can’t really see her outfit, but her hair is down and pretty, her makeup is light, and she’s got layers of black, mesh, and metal within her outfit.

Ellie’s reaction to the shooting is soooo weird, it’s like she literally does not care. She seems impatient that her boyfriend isn’t “over it” yet and that everyone is “still talking about it”. Really bizarre. Ya know, I would have thought it might hit her hard, maybe even cause her to relapse with her own dark struggles. Buuuut I guess not? Anyway, her clothes are really cool in this episode. She’s wearing a text-covered tee with a chain necklace, a red plaid skirt, some flare pants underneath, and a rad half-n-half zip up hoodie. Perfect outfit for the beach, lol. But hey, she didn’t know she’d be there. I’m really glad we have this relic frozen in time, the style of the mall goth, memorialized forever on this show.
