S2E20: How Soon is Now

This is the painful episode where Ellie is dying for Marco to reciprocate her love. Thankfully we get an Ellie fashion show while we endure the plot. First, she wears her floral British flag shirt with crimped hair and a headband. She wears it with a pleated plaid skirt and that grommet belt, and either leggings or skinny flare pants. Outside she wears a leather jacket. Oh, how I miss the feeling of cold air (it’s sweltering summer as I write this). The next ‘fit is a black boat neck sweater, beaded headband, frosty eyeshadow, and spiky/chunky necklaces. And the final outfit is a shirt of tans and blues, but that’s all we can make out of the ensemble.

If Ellie is accented with pink, purple, or red, I am happy. So today we get some nice purpley vibes incorporated into her look which consists of a leather jacket, an updo, and a pleated plaid skirt over some black flares.

Ellie wears a jean skirt, grommet belt, a long sleeve tee with a watercolory print of browns and blues, and a black  tank over the top. She accessorizes with a silver pendant, purple eyeshadow, and crimped hair. Always looking awesome. (Til she gets to college and borings out.)

S2E16: Message in a Bottle

This is one of the greatest Ellie looks in my opinion but she’s only here giving us one line for one brief moment. She’s got an elaborate updo accented with a purplish color and many small braids. She wears a black leather vest over a red shirt. Her makeup is heavy today and she of course wears a lot of jewelry. So cool. Makes me want to spend more time on my appearance a little. I can’t make out what her bottoms are exactly but it looks to be a black skirt.

S2E15: Hot for Teacher

This is a very important post. Why? Because Ellie has three pigtails. Three pigtails is one of Degrassi’s greatest silent shames. I’m surprised how many times I’ve seen this happening. One of my mom’s favorite stories to tell is about the time I asked for 3 pigtails to go to kindergarten. Because it’s absurd and hilarious. And for some reason, these 2000s city kids have made the absurd and hilarious choice to wear 3 pigtails. Aside from that, Ellie has done some interesting combinations today. As I say, I love her in red. So I’m glad to see her in this red bell-sleeve top, under a cropped black tank, loaded with jewelry, and wearing a floral skirt and her large grommet belt. It’s definitely a look. Okay and I joke about the 3 pigtails. She actually pulls it off.

S2E14: Careless Whisper

Love early Ellie! Where to start? Well this is the episode where she is still big time crushing on Marco but nothing has progressed, so she’s trying to figure out her next move. She wears headbanded, crimped updos, many little hoop earrings, and cool makeup of course. The first ensemble is red and black, including a dog collar and a spiky necklace, a diy-looking shirt over mesh long sleeves. She also wears this gigantic grommet belt. At the movies, I grabbed a closeup of her ring and bracelet. And the next school day, she wears a pleated plaid skirt and that tank with a floral British flag print on it. And I think it’s all atop some flare pants, because those don’t look like leggings. And the final look is a pink and green button down under a black tank. I love how she incorporates unassuming colors. Actually, this shirt looks SO familiar, like maybe someone else has worn it? Maybe Paige? I don’t know.

S2E10: Take my Breath away

I love Ellie time! First she wears her hair in twisty half pigtails, a red long sleeve with a black vest, and of course tons of jewelry and makeup. Then in the next scene, I like to imagine she is repurposing some clothes from when she was younger and dressed like a normie – she’s got this printed silky yellow and pink top, over a mesh long sleeve and under a black tank. She’s also got a grommet belt and black pants. And frosty frosty eyeshadow, as you do in the 2000s. I love how elaborate her looks are. Meanwhile people like Snake, Sean, and Craig literally just put on a plain tee.

Ellie is just over here being cool af, smiling approvingly at PMS’s performance, wearing an elaborate hairstyle and what looks to be a leather vest with a choker. Then she praises them in person at school the next day, wearing a spikey necklace and black mesh top, with some pigtail kinda hair.

S2E6: Drive

First Ellie is sporting an elaborate purplish braided updo, with frosty eyeshadow, dark lips, a bellybutton ring, denim skirt, a black vest thing over a grey tee and mesh long sleeves, knee-high socks, and chunky shoes. Oh yeah and a close up of this triple-buckle grommeted belt accenting that low-rise skirt. People are so quick to call her “goth” but she’s so different than goth. Her style is really unique, I love it. She gets her cartilage pierced like it was nothing and goes along on her way. Next, is El in RED. I hate when people say redheads shouldn’t wear red or pink. Because I LIVE for it. This getup is bomb. A red flare-sleeve shirt under a black tank, plaid skirt, spiked necklace, and another braided updo. I adore this!

S2E5: Weird Science

Heck yeah, Ellie is back!! I really love when her looks are accented with purples or reds. And for only our second Ellie post ever, this one of these ‘fits is quite the legendary one imo. But let’s start from the beginning. You may recall that Jimmy has actually had a thing for El’ since the beginning. Here he is begging for her digits. She’s wearing a pleated denim miniskirt, with one of those double-row grommet belts, and a pale pink polo over a black mesh long sleeve and under a black tank. It’s such a look. And she’s Emma Nelson’s close contender in the triple-pigtail contest – she’s even adorned her ‘tails with braids and crimped and colored pieces. She wears bright purple eyeshadow, berry lip gloss, and carries a naked guitar on her back. Okay that’s normal. As you’ll see, the writers make Ellie a consistent dabbler in music throughout  her run on the show but she’s never known to stick to it. I guess I can’t really talk either though.

Next, this. Oh, this. This ensemble is captivating yet confusing, cool yet code-violating. I’m talking about, the shirt with blood dribbled down the front. Yes, this is some kind of, slightly-athletic looking white tank, with horizontal black stripes, and, blood splattered right down the sternum. Well, fake blood, but still, I can’t imagine it’s meant to simulate anything else. She’s paired it it with an awesome large print plaid skirt, and over what looks like black pants. As is tradition, every Degrassi student wears the same hairdo two days in a row, so she’s got the same hair we’ve already discussed. She’s handing Spinner her number as he employs the binder boner shield to receive it.

About this outfit. I can tell you right now I’d barely get through the door at my high school before they would send me right back home. I’ve been persecuted all my life for my clothes at school and I never wore fake blood on my shirt. That’s a whole new level. Especially in this world of so much school violence, I don’t see how this could ever fly. It’s also like, what is this shirt saying? Like, did you get a nosebleed? Did you have a little exorcist moment and vomit up some blood? Did you get stabbed in the heart? Or did you spill some ketchup? What’s the story with this blood supposed to be? What’s the message? I’m all for it, okay, like, I support you Ellie. But I’m still curious.
