Okay, I can totally understand why people hate Emma. I really do. But for some reason I was just overcome with unconditional love at first sight when I first happened upon Degrassi (season 2 of TNG was airing at the time), and I just accept all her flaws with open arms. She was a firey, meddling child. She had good intentions, but she was naive. And her naivete drives her role in this episode – jumping to conclusions about Liberty and Armstrong, spreading it around the school, and assuming that she had nothing to do with it. First outfit is an awesome striped sweater of yellow, orange, and pink, paired with olive khaki flares and chunky tennies. She tops it with a jean jacket when she goes outside.  And last she wears a red zip up sweater, her cross-body bag, and red pants.

So until now Ashley’s hair has been flipped under, but it looks like she’s trying something new and flipping it out instead! I remember wishing my hair would flip out, but it’s pretty fine and I could never get it to cooperate. She’s wearing her 3/4 sleeve lilac colored polo, some kind of khakis, hoop earrings, and a puka shell necklace. The next day she wears a dark grey long sleeve collared shirt, and Spinner puts bugs in her lunch.

Little baby Toby is playing basketball with Jimmy in his baggy clothes and horiztonal-stripe shirt. Then he roams the hall stirring up drama in this oversize plaid shirt that he forgot to button all the way, whose sleeves dangle way past his hands. Once again we are generally devoid of color.

I find this extra-flat hairstyle to be jarring, but probably because until recently we’ve never seen Spike’s hair, well, flattened. It looks so different. But anyway she’s got this like, 2000s low bun thing with tons of little hair clips in there like she’s thirteen. But I think that’s what the 2000s was partly about – living or reliving your 13-year-old fantasy. She’s wearing a tee that looks like it’s some surf brand, frosty eyeshadow, a choker, and the throws on a zip up hoodie to take Emma to the mall – oh yeah and chew out a perv. Love that forever.

So here are some minor random characters and other miscellaneous shots. First is these people from the soap opera PMSing Emma is crying along with. This dude, his hair looks like, the hair satan would have. His lady friend has nice overplucked eyebrows and frosty eyeshadow. Then is this freaky pedophile at the mall, wearing a suit with a very outdated tie. But I gotta say, he was cast really well because he’s creepy as hell. Then I just took this shot of randos on the front steps to demonstrate more of the baggy clothing motif. I definitely did not see this many vests when I was in school during this time, but oh right, that’s because it doesn’t get cold here. And finally I threw in this girl with another unfinished ponytail.

Paige plays a big role in this episode. You know what? It’s almost as if, Paige represents the PERIOD ITSELF. It’s glamorous, mature, and womanly, a beautiful example of growing up and rising to womanhood. But it’s also harsh and painful and embarrassing and will call you out in public. Paige is a hard reality, just like puberty. So, first she is wearing these rimless blue sunglasses, hoop earrings, and her blue fur jacket. Then she busts in on Emma in the bathroom staring at her blood stained skirt. Paige herself is wearing an all-black ensemble, a black 3/4-length sleeve top and a black pencil skirt complete with frosty blue eyeshadow and a braided headband. She is kind enough to offer a pad, a few words of period advice, and a heads up about the boobs coming. Then, she signs Emma’s petition, again in the blue fur jacket, with new rimless sunglasses, and an orange tee.

I remember hearing once that like, Oskar was gonna be basically what Marco became. If that makes sense. But, he didn’t, but we do get to see him for a while. So here’s a lovely backlit shot of him in a visor, baggy tee, and vest.
