So, I work with college students, Zoomers as I like to call them as I write this in 2020. I was telling them about how we used to wear khakis casually. Like, wear them to school with Converse and a tee and whatever. I recently noticed that people don’t do this anymore? So I was telling one of my Zoomers about it and she was baffled. In honor of that, I am establishing a new “trends” category on the blog format: “Casual Khakis”. (Unfortunately this means I now have to backtrack and tag all the other appearances of casual khakis.) Anyway, so Paige is first seen wearing her yarn-adorned jean jacket with khakis. Then we briefly see a brownish halter in MI. In the gym, she sees Craig singing to Ashley, and she wears some kind of blue tank. For her not-so-surprise party, she’s got a midi skirt and some clear heels, with a pink tube top and curled hair. I absolutely love this look on Paige. Crazy to think she’s got her life WAY more together right now than people like Ash or Manny. Also, I want you to notice that in Ashley’s house, there are always little red hankies thrown over the lamps. Watch for it, you’ll see it. Anywhere Ashley is trying to set a mood, there are hankies over lamps.

Toby still sits perfectly on the cusp between the 90s and the 2000s, sporting tiny glasses, that middle-part wedge kinda haircut, and lots of horizontal stripes. And I have to say, that his school picture, may be the best thing I’ve ever seen on Degrassi.

The beginning of the second end, of Sean and Emma. Weird relationship, don’t really approve of it myself. But in terms of style, you reeeeeaaally are starting to see the separation between the two, as their styles completely clash, reflecting their completely different interests and lifestyles. Look, I’m not trying to say people of different subcultures can’t have a healthy relationship, but you gotta admit that a hippie dating a gangster is a stretch. First Emma wears a burgundy blouse, khaki capris, and cream colored sneakers. Next she cleans the ravine in a blue tie-dye tank and more khakis. I was just mentioning to one of my zoomer coworkers that we all used to wear khakis casually, and she was like, whaaaa? Next is her school picture, which is kinda sad, because it’s like a kind gesture that’s about to get crumpled up. Anyway she’s wearing a pinkish tee with a mandala on it. And finally, Emma is signing the picture and trying to give it to Sean, wearing her floor-length purse, a jean skirt, and a white peasant top.

Is this really our first time featuring MY QUEEN ALEX NUNEZ? I could have sworn she’s been in the background a time or two before now, but I guess not. Anyway, no matter. Alex is a goddess, I adore her – her attitude, her attire, everything. So she’s first seen as Jay’s gum-chewing appendage. She kinda has intimidating bad-girl vibes similar to Tabi. She literally gives no effs, as is apparent by her baggy pants, constant nail-filing, gum-chewing, and bra straps falling down. Alex has a certain uniform, the same way Sean or Jay usually do. A stacked haircut, tank top, sunglasses, hoops, and headphones, and low-rise, baggy pants. Her style is so effortlessly cool, despite its simplicity. She’s such a badass, I can’t wait to share more of her.

One of Spinner’s most irredeemable moments. Ugh. Let’s just talk about the clothes. First, he’s briefly a skateboarder and tightening his trucks or something in a tee and baggy olive khakis. Then he’s wearing a cutoff in the gym which just reminds me of his body odor. And finally, another tee and that digital wristwatch we see on so many people. It’s interesting, it just occurred to me that there’d definitely be more of a purpose in a wrist watch for city kids. Rural kids like me didn’t have a city bus to catch or anything like that. Our parents drove us everywhere and there were clocks on the wall at school. No real NEED for a watch.

Emma cracks me up, dressing all stereotypical all the time. Gotta love it. First she wears a brown tank top, bra straps and all, and some rad low-rise khakis belted with a striped brown belt. Eating a bowl of fruit of course. Next she’s in a tee which seems slightly non-Emma. But then I realized it’s probably another World Wildlife Fund shirt because I can see animals on it. She’s going through her B-plot of Snake finding out he has cancer.

Here’s a couple of random shots. We have these beach runners who Paige and Dylan catcall together. Wearing clothes that don’t exactly look like running clothes, but okay. And also at school we see Marco kissing a girl with a cap sleeve tee and khakis. Isn’t it weird to think our main characters have other friends who we don’t know?

Toby wears a carefree grey v-neck tee, and also wears his backpack on ONE shoulder only, which is what cool kids do. He also wears baggy khaki pants and chunky black skate shoes. He’s also seen staring at Manny, wearing a like, cream-colored polo. Ew.

Is nobody gonna talk about how COINCIDENTAL it is that JT has an “honest-to-goodness sweet-hearted crush on Manny uwu” as SOON as she starts wearing a public thong? Bitch please. He likes her the same damn reason Sully and everyone else likes her. Sheesh. So why we all pro-JT when he’s just a perv like everyone else? Sure, maybe he’d be nicer than Sully, but what’s the REAL reason for the interest? Horniness. Excuse all the language in this post, I really couldn’t hold back.

Horny JT is seen here in multiple shots, gawking at Manny, with his shaggy haircut, open button down, tee, shorts, and chunky shoes. Oh and can’t forget the puka shell necklace. And gotta love the black socks. And I miss when shorts were this long. Don’t miss that hairstyle.

Emma, oh Emma. This is the part where Emma is no longer the main character. It’s interesting, you know. At first she’s like, trying to be supportive of Manny’s rebranding campaign. Like, oh cool, you look great. But eventually she’s like “I’M CONCERNED”. What do you think? Do you think Emma was really concerned about “how Manny was acting”, or do you think Emma was jealous?

First she’s wearing a tight, green tank – with a scarf, cuz, you know, when it’s cold, you go sleeveless and just wear a scarf. She’s also got her low-hanging purse, and khaki flares. At the mall, she’s got a jean jacket over top. Also, she says she doesn’t think they should sell thongs at the mall. I never really understood what she meant by that. All these years, never understood. Like, why not? Where should they be sold instead? The grocery store? Do you find them dangerous, Emma?

Next she’s in a pinkish mandala 3/4 sleeve boat neck top with some drawstring cargo pants, slowly becoming more salty. And finally, for the day of the big blowout, she wears flare jeans, and some greenish/blueish layered tops.
