Toby is definitely giving off vibes of wisdom in this episode. Toby is confident in who he is, yet he knows his place. It’s a stark contrast to starry-eyed Rick who thinks anything is freaking possible for some unknown reason. Toby’s self-awareness is actually probably part of what gets him way more kisses in the kissing contest. Toby dresses comfortably – kind of nerdy but also kind of normal. It’s a very balanced style. Polos, baggy jeans, glasses, etc. But the spiked hair makes him seem just a little less nerdy. As if to suggest “I’m a nerd by choice but I don’t have to be”.

Side note, this little kiss-collecting competition reminds me of one my friend and I had in grade 7. We started taking a poll – I think we either asked everyone “which one of us is prettier” or “which one of us do you like better”. Sadly my friend was widely disliked so I won by a landslide, and she was shocked and surprised by it. I am historically friends with extra annoying or very disliked people. I don’t know what that’s about, but it’s worked out fine.

Ew, it’s Gross Spinner, Worst Version of Spinner Ever Time. Sorry guys, sometimes I get biased even though I try to only report the truth. But seriously, this version of Spinner makes me so angry and disgusted. Fashion-wise, though, he doesn’t really do anything different. He’s got that long unwashed hair, his man necklace, jeans, and baggy tees. However, something different you may notice is that SMUG LOOK on his face, and that leftover sunburn that leaves him looking extra crusty. You know what though? It’s hard to tell what SPINNER really wants in this episode. He’s hard to read. Like, do you love Paige (flowers) or do you hate her (taunting her at work)? Do you want Manny, Paige, both, neither?

Snake, ah, this shirt is a bit more flattering! A nice yellow plaid button down. Voila.

I must admit, Rick sure is hopeful. Or is a better word shameless? He’s going around really thinking he can get girls to kiss him. Um, Rick, have you not… READ THE ROOM!? He is wearing his classic look – the glasses, the messenger bag, the open shirt over a tee shirt, and the baggy pants.

Time for the rando roundup for Islands in the Stream! First is this couple Paige is waiting on at The Dot. The guy has long curly hair, tats, and a tee, and the girl has a 2000s side part with layers and a red tank. Then, there’s the mean manager in his Dot shirt. Next is a couple of guys behind Toby wearing headwear and baggy pants, making Toby look much less cool. Then there’s a dude dribbling in the hallway wearing baggy layers. Next, a little Spirit Squad group shot. Then, haha check this girl out. It’s funny that she’s wearing this shirt while Rick is out collecting kisses. But seriously though, these shirts with statements on them were all the rage. This is hilarious. With that white grommet belt and those low-rise jeans? I think she even has a little hip tattoo to bring it all together. This is fantastic. Rick, just walk away bruh. Then there are a couple of dudes at the movie theatre who are dressed so plainly there’s not even much I can say. And FINALLY, I had to throw in this mohawk guy!

Ah, the star of the episode. So Paige is realizing that Spinner totally sucks. She is also still trying to pay him back for wrecking his car. So the first outfit we see is her uniform when she was working briefly at The Dot. Then she’s in the caf wearing thie bizarre lilac tie-front top, with the tie hanging all the way down to her knees. Her hair is also super cutely styled, which I feel is treading outside the perimeters of realistic high school. But it IS pretty. The next top is this super cute off-the-shoulder watermelony tie-dyed top, short enough to reveal the matching pink belt on her jeans. She’s also got some subtle pink eyeshadow, and her jeans are cuffed since she’s short, and she has pink pumps on as well. Then, she’s in her little chihuahua tee again, gazing at her asshole boyfriend. She wears this with a jean miniskirt and flip flops (which were not allowed at my school). Gosh, we’re still going? This is a lot of Paige outfits. We see a Spirit Squad ‘fit (peep that flip phone), and also her work uniform after she lands the job at the theatre. Can we take a moment of silence for the saggy crotch on those work khakis? Gah, I remember that feeling all too well. And finally, the last outfit is that darling orange and pink top with the O-ring detail. Looking like a 70s flashback.

Uh-oh, it’s the first appearance of The Evil Meeri. The movie theatre manager, who is actually interviewing Paige right now. Meeri is like, kinda tough, but I think she keeps it real, ya know? Anyway, she wears the delicious color of the theatre – brown.

Y’all can’t fool me, this is exactly what Manny was wearing in the LAST episode! Again, it’s the Ninja Turtles-but-not-actually-Ninja-Turtles tee with the low rise pants and the half-pony again. Weird. Aaand then at Spirit Squad practice, I think the intention behind those oversized basketball shorts was to contrast with Paige’s miniskirt, demonstrating that Paige is still the queen freaking bee.

Marco’s clothes aren’t really showing here, but I felt these shots were worth sharing because the hair is looking SWEET.

The fact that JT is not really around for a fashion review in this episode kind of mirrors the fact the he has distanced himself from Toby. He’s doing the long-sleeve-shirts-under-short-sleeve-shirts thing and even has these layered collars with his man necklace and shaggy hair. Ew, I’m having 2000s dating pool flashbacks. I can smell the Axe and the Polo.
